Scope
Storage controller sourcing should separate chipset or family labels from the complete board, firmware, license, cache, and accessory configuration.
Request preparation
Share platform, exact board reference, interface and port needs, firmware or OEM version, cache or protection components, cables, brackets, quantity, and condition.
Technical parameters and selection boundaries
Published configurations differ by manufacturer and exact part number. These are selection dimensions, not one combined specification.
| Parameter | Documented example or choice | Verify for this request |
|---|---|---|
| Host interface | The MegaRAID 9560-16i and 9560-8i examples use PCIe Gen 4.0 x8. | Match electrical lane availability, slot placement, firmware and operating-system driver; mechanical slot fit is insufficient. |
| Drive protocols | Both examples list 12 Gb/s SAS, 6 Gb/s SATA and PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe. | Tri-mode support requires appropriate cabling, backplane, drive and firmware combinations. Do not assume any mixed arrangement works without qualification. |
| Internal ports and connectors | 9560-16i: 16 internal ports and two x8 SFF-8654 connectors. 9560-8i: eight internal ports and one x8 SFF-8654. | Physical connectors, lanes and attached-drive counts are different quantities; identify the actual topology. |
| Controller and cache | 9560-16i uses SAS3916 with 8 GB cache; 9560-8i uses SAS3908 with 4 GB cache. | Do not combine the cache size of one board with the ordering code of another. |
| RAID configuration | The two reviewed boards list RAID 0, 00, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6 and 60. | Select layout using workload, usable capacity, failure tolerance and recovery requirements; RAID is not a backup strategy. |
| Board size | 155.52 ±0.13 mm × 68.77 ±0.13 mm for both examples. | Allow for bracket, cable exits and chassis clearance; board size alone does not establish server compatibility. |
| Typical power and supply | 9560-16i: 13.21 W typical; 9560-8i: 9.64 W typical. Shared supply limits: 12 V ±8% and 3.3 V ±9%. | Typical power is not a maximum power or airflow design requirement. Check the full hardware guide for system integration. |
| Environment | Operating: 0–55 °C, 5–90% RH non-condensing. Storage: −45–105 °C, 5–95% RH non-condensing. | These are shared conditions in the retained 9500-series brief; confirm the current exact assembly and system thermal requirements. |
Standard configurations and project options
| Configuration area | Documented option | Project decision |
|---|---|---|
| Eight versus sixteen internal ports | Select the 9560-8i or 9560-16i together with the required SFF-8654 cabling and qualified drive topology. | Port expansion, backplane management and NVMe device count need system-level validation. |
| Cache protection bundle | Both examples specify CacheVault CVPM05; its separate ordering entry is 05-50039-00. | Confirm whether the supplied kit includes the module, cable and mounting hardware; do not assume an accessory is included. |
Representative models and configurations
Examples illustrate real product variation. A listed manufacturer or model is not a statement of our stock, authorization, or confirmed availability.
| Manufacturer / series | Published configuration | Important scope |

| Broadcom MegaRAID 9560-16i / 05-50077-00 | 16 internal ports; two x8 SFF-8654; 8 GB cache; PCIe Gen 4.0 x8; SAS/SATA/NVMe tri-mode. | Single-pack ordering code in official BC0500EN, 20 April 2023. Confirm current revision, kit contents and qualification; no availability is implied. |
| Broadcom MegaRAID 9560-8i / 05-50077-01 | eight internal ports; one x8 SFF-8654; 4 GB cache; PCIe Gen 4.0 x8; SAS/SATA/NVMe tri-mode. | Single-pack ordering code in official BC0500EN, 20 April 2023. Confirm current revision, kit contents and qualification; no availability is implied. |
Applications and procurement context
- For a server storage upgrade, provide the controller ordering code, backplane and drive list, cable mapping, RAID requirements and OS/firmware versions. Confirm the cache-protection bundle and recovery procedure before treating a board as an interchangeable replacement.
Compatibility, current supply, lead time, origin, and acceptance documents must be confirmed for the actual order.
